Wholegrain Mustard Mayonnaise dressing! Simple and tasty!

Salad dressings are so important. A plate full, of what I call rabbit food, does absolutely nothing for me whatsoever!

In general, learning a few basic dressings helps you turn a boring salad into a whole different thing.

Coupled with a few extras like, chopped dill or chopped chives, you can easily change it around a bit according to your taste.

I always have a few different mustards in the cupboard and fridge. My favourites are wholegrain and Dijon. It is surprising how many recipes mustard can be used for. Furthermore, it works well with cream, which I do like when cooking rabbit.

With this in mind, as I continue to add my recipes, I will update and add more links for things I use mustard for, so do check back!

Is mustard good for you?

Surprisingly yes! Mustard contains many nutritional things. It has a plentiful supply of essential minerals including calcium, iron, manganese, phosphorus and zinc. In addition it is a very good source of omega-3 fatty acids it also supplies phosphorus, iron, selenium and protein.

Furthermore Eating a small amount of mustard seeds daily, also improves your digestion, which is beneficial when trying to lose weight. So maybe a low calorie mayonnaise added to a healthy salad could be useful if you are on a diet? If you aren’t on a diet, go for it anyway!

And then there is Mayonnaise …

You could of course make your own mayonnaise if you are that way inclined, but I am not! I love mayonnaise! Probably too much if I am honest. My absolute favourite is Hellman’s. I buy the usual jar of full fat. Naughty I know, but it is one of my guilty pleasures, not that it makes me feel guilty! You can also find vegan and light versions, so maybe search those out?

Most salad dressings take minutes to put together. I like to make one ready and leave it to chill for a little while in the fridge. That way I can have everything ready to go when I am ready to serve! This is particularly useful when doing a BBQ. I try to prepare as much as I can beforehand … And then the men take over! You know the score, I don’t need to elaborate!

This particular dressing I used with my Potato salad. You can read more here!
