It isn’t often that a visit to the beach happens, but usually, the lovely beach at Mojacar is a favourite choice.
With a wonderful selection of little shops and miles of sandy beaches, it is a nice day out.
Mojacar is situated on the coast of South Eastern Spain. It’s history dates back over 4000 years, but it really only began to flourish in the last few decades.
The village and the beaches are separated, so you have the Pueblo, perched on top of a hill, whereas the Playa is just a few minutes away by car. We were heading for the Playa!

By the time we got to Mojacar, we were starving. Now of course we could have had a typical Spanish breakfast; usually this would be a tostada with tomatoes, jamon and cheese, which is nice! But on this occasion we wanted ‘bacon’! The current virus situation has caused difficulties getting English bacon to the local shops. The restaurants however seem to be managing fine.
The restaurant!
We ordered drinks whilst contemplating what we would eat.. A milky coffee for the husband (café con leche), and English tea for me, which came in a cute little tea pot! They also brought a plate of pastries and donuts and a small fresh orange juice. We had forgotten that they offered that at this particular place. I resisted temptation as I didn’t want to ‘ruin’ my appetite for my breakfast!

So an English breakfast it was, for both of us! Bacon, sausage, 2 fried eggs, black pudding, baked beans, hash brown, toast and tomatoes. The plate was huge. It was not an easy task to finish it, but we managed it … just!

After a few minutes of people watching whilst our breakfast settled, we headed off for some shopping.
Shoes and more food!
Husband was after shoes. He owns more shoes than the average shoe shop, but the Spanish leather shoes are lovely! After a couple of visits to each shoe shop, he finally made his choice. Now it was my turn.
Whilst we had been wandering around the commercial centre, I had spotted my target! On the second floor, almost tucked away out of view, I had spotted a Gourmet shop. After the slow walk around shoe shops, I think I speeded up a bit here!

It was a nice shop! A handsome Spanish chap greeted us at the door. He looked very professional, donning his black chef style apron. We entered and he asked us what we were looking for. I replied in my ‘best Spanish’, that we were just looking. He left us alone to wander around whilst he dealt with a couple of Spanish clients. They obviously had an excellent taste in wine.
I asked if I could take a few photos and he said I could, He also pointed out the ‘QR code’, situated near his till. He said it would take me to his website and there was a complete list of all his products on there.

I decided on a black currant preserve and some dried mushrooms. I know I wasn’t exactly ‘client of the day’, so instead I thought I would share his details with others, as at this point I just wanted to go and sit around on the beach!
